Beat The Prick 2010

Contest Rules

Requirements: One-time $50 balance
To be eligible for prize money each contestant MUST have had a balance of $50 in the Diamond Sportsbook account PRIOR to that week's games and after joining this contest. The $50 is only required to be present in the Diamond Sportsbook account once and is NOT required to be present each week following the initial entry. Non-depositors will receive SBRpoints instead of cash in their Diamond Sportsbook account. New Diamond Sportsbook account holders must register through the BTP Sponsor Link.

$10,000 Weekly Prize!
$10,000 is up for grabs each of the 15 weeks. The prize money will be divided among all entrants that outscore 'The Prick' that week. The prize amount is weighted based on your score against others who beat The Prick.

Increased Weekly Prizes! Each time the amount of weekly participants increases above 500 by 100 players, $2,000 will be added to the prize pool! Examples: 599 participants means no changes to prize pool. The 600th participant triggers another $2,000 for $12,000 total prize pool. If 800 to 899 people compete in a week, that week BTP prize pool is $16,000.

$10,000 Season-ending Prize!
1st place $5,000
2nd place $2,500
3rd place $1,000
4th place $750
5th place $400
6th place $200
7th place $150
*Cash prizes carry a five time rollover (play-through of prize winning).

How to Enter:
Step 1: Become a member of SBR. If you aren't registered open a free account here.
Step 2: Join The Beat The Prick contest & enter your Diamond Sportsbook user ID
Step 3: Make your 4 weekly picks after 'The Prick' makes his selections. The contest starts Tuesday September 7th.
* Make sure there is $50 in your account between the time you join and the day first games begin!

How to play Beat The Prick
  • You will make 4 plays each week. Making less than 4 plays disqualifies you for that weekly prize but those plays will count toward your season-ending score.
  • By midnight Tuesday of each week, 'The Prick' will make 4 picks on NFL or NCAAF sides or totals. Contestant picks cannot be entered until 'The Prick' has made his picks. The games which he selects will be taken off the board and are not available to contestants.
  • Everyone including The Prick will choose a 2-unit (double value) best bet each week.
  • You must Beat The Prick to win. If The Prick scores +3.00 and you score +3.10 you will have beaten The Prick. However, if The Prick goes 4-0 with his football plays, there are no winners.
  • Only players with a positive score can earn prizes. Placing above The Prick but with negative units for the week will not earn prizes.
  • You must have made 48 picks to be eligible for the season-ending prizes.
  • You must have made your one-time deposit before Week 10's football games begin.
Fine Print
  • You must enter your Diamond Sportsbook account ID even if you intend to only play for SBR Points. A valid account assists with SBR with contest fraud.
  • One entry per household allowed.
  • DSI accounts must be in good standing. Players subject to book's own policies and terms and conditions.

The prick is going down! LOL
Sinister Cat (16 hours ago)
Okay, made my deposit at DSI. Their customer service seems much improved over when I last dealt with them some years ago-- live chat operators seem competent. Anyway, thanks for running BTP again guys; best contest around.
Bill Dozer (15 hours ago)
Thanks for the feedback SC. They doubled the size of their mgt. team this summer and it seems to be making for a smoother experience for the user.
yisman (15 hours ago)
when I use live chat I get someone right away. Pretty good service.
pavyracer (17 hours ago)
Any idea how many out of the current 377 players are cash only? You don't have to post names just a ratio will suffice. Thanks.
Bill Dozer (16 hours ago)
No, and we won't know until after week 1 when DSI awards prizes.
pavyracer (15 hours ago)
True but when DSI awards prizes it will be only for the ones who beat the prick so we will never know how many total people are cash only since not all cash players will beat the prick every week.

The very first time I goto use DSI and the cashier page is down.. Very nice first impression
Bill Dozer (1 day ago)
These days most books need you to call in to process immediate deposits. Payouts are good on the website.

Bill, I'm sure some of the week's winners will not meet the rules, and will receive SBR points instead. In this event does DSI still payout $10,000 to the qualified winners each week? Another words let's say someone finishes 3rd and gets $500 and you found out that player didn't deposit, does DSI now pay $9,500 & 500 SBR points. Just wondering how, if at all, the prize money for qualified winners is affected by non qualified winners?
Bill Dozer (4 days ago)
No, the prize is $10,000 and if you are not going for cash, your would-be cash does not get redistributed. The only time this would be is if the winner turns out to be fraudulent. To combat the prize being watered down by points winners, $2,000 is added to the prize pool for every 100 people that sign up above 500. So if 700 people play in a week, the week's prize is $14,000 instead of $10,000. If you deposited, your piece is cash.
SR (3 days ago)
Still...you have all these ghosts on here that will never deposit any money. That means they get points and the real players who would have split the 10k split alot less. The better option is actually check these people and remove them from the contest and let the real players go after the money.
SR (3 days ago)
Furthermore, what is to stop DSI or yourselves from making random accounts and issuing worthless points instead of paying the rest of us. Not trying to be negative but there are a lot of ways substituting cash for dollars makes no sense to the players that deposited and lose their share of the real winnings.
Bill Dozer (2 days ago)
I'm not sure you understood. If 5000 people joined, the prize is still $2000 for every 100 names in even if 100 ghosts managed to signup. You are right. There are a lot of ways for any contest host to cheat contestants. If you haven't been around long enough to know how SBR does things, feel free to sit out for this one and observe.
frankthetank (4 days ago)

Just want to get something straight. I just joined the contest at 11pm on 8/28. Now as long as I make the 50 dollar deposit I am good right? Even if I lose the 50 dollars right after I deposit it I am still good?
Doc JS (5 days ago)
yes and yes
oakas (1 week ago)
Just put $100 into my account for the contest. Thanks
jasont (1 week ago)
So I'm good as long as I deposit before the first game starts, correct?
Doc JS (1 week ago)
yes
iceman9870 (1 week ago)
what is the easiest way to deposit?
astro61200 (4 days ago)
I've always used MoneyGram with 5dimes, and I will be using them here aswell
azn624 (1 week ago)
So I am registered now and lets say I deposit $50 today and lose it tonight. Am I now qualified for all prizes?
Doc JS (6 days ago)
yes
uva3021 (1 week ago)
So the deposit confirmation only takes place if contestant wins? Sounds reasonable enough
Bill Dozer (1 week ago)
Correct. But, DSI will confirm you deposited before you made picks. Players can't decide to deposit after they win any given week. For the season ending prize, they must deposit by week 10's games.
Brakon00 (1 week ago)
if you had $50 deposited last week does it count?
Brakon00 (1 week ago)
if i had $50 in last week and have 0$ in there now.....but if i have $50 in my dsi account before thursday nights game of vikings saints im fine for the contest?
Bill Dozer (1 week ago)
No, because you joined the contest after that. The date we give DSI to verify $50 is the date you join. Sorry that we can't use that but we need to give them a hard date for all entrants.
Brakon00 (1 week ago)
so if i put $50 in today and i have at min. 50 in my account on sept7th im ok?
Brakon00 (1 week ago)
since it says after u joined this contest and during the first week of games
Bill Dozer (1 week ago)
It's saying that you have to have $50 in after joining this contest. At 12:00 you have $50 in and join the contest and the were to lose it at 12:02, you are fine. The reference to the first week was saying that if you want to be eligible for that week, you can't deposit after the games...has to be before your picks are in play.

Bill Dozer (1 week ago)
Glad you made it Jedi. GL!
vyomguy (1 week ago)
How are the prizes distributed exactly. Lets say Prick goes 2-2. And these are the top 3 results. How will the prize be distributed...is it based on units or winning percentage. X -> 4-0 -> 5 units Y -> 4-0 -> 4.5 units Z -> 3-1 -> 6.3 units So will Z win the weekly prize or X & Y split the weekly price?
Bill Dozer (1 week ago)
It's based on units. In an oversimplified example, if you beat the Prick scoring 4 units and someone else had 3.5 units and a third outscored him with 2.5, you would get 4 parts of the prize split by 10 units. It would be 40% of the $10,000. Your prize would be $4,000.
Sox2010 (1 week ago)
Can I assume that any winnings will then be put into our diamond account?
Bill Dozer (1 week ago)
Right. If you made the required deposit, you'll get cash in your DSI account. It must be wagered 5x. If you win $1000 your risk amt must equal $5000 before withdrawing.
Sox2010 (1 week ago)
Thank you Bill. That is very nice on Diamond's part to pony up so much cash.
capitalist pig (1 week ago)
