Detroit’s three regulated commercial casinos generated revenue of $101.04 million in June 2025, according to the latest figures from the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB).
The monthly report showed that MotorCity Casino, Hollywood Casino, and MGM Grand Detroit produced $100.38 million from table and slot games, while retail Michigan sports betting contributed $665,435.
The figures are slightly lower than those of May and last June. Table games and slots revenue dropped 4.2% year-over-year and were down 11.4% on the May figures, while revenue for the first half of 2025 was down 0.8% year-over-year.
MGM Grand Detroit dominated the revenue tables, with 48% of the overall figure, while MotorCity Casino contributed 31% and Hollywood Casino at Greektown the remaining 21%.
All three casinos showed a year-on-year revenue decline, with Hollywood Casino at Greektown showing the biggest decline, down 12.5% from last year.
The lower revenue meant that the three venues contributed less to state taxes than last June. Between them, the three casinos paid $8.1 million in state gaming taxes, down from the $8.5 million.
Illegal online gambling crackdown
Meanwhile, the MGCB has initiated its most significant enforcement action to date for July, sending cease-and-desist letters to 19 online gaming platforms found to be operating without the required licenses in the state.
Cyber Bingo, Ignition Casino, Jackpot Capital, and Red Stag Casino were among the sites ordered to shut immediately. According to the MGCB, these sites violate Michigan’s gaming laws and pose a major risk to players, including the withholding of winnings and a lack of legal recourse.
“These platforms operate in the shadows,” Williams said. “They’re not just skirting the rules—they’re exposing players to serious harm,” said the Executive Director of the MGCB, Henry Williams.
New game provider enters Michigan
As Michigan cracks down on illegal gambling, the licensed Michigan online casino sector is growing, with the news that UK-based games studio Incentive Games will become the latest company to gain a provisional Michigan gaming licence.
This marks Incentive’s first step into the US market. The company intends to launch new real-money games for Michigan players during the next few months.
“Securing our Michigan license marks an exciting new chapter for Incentive Games. It's a testament to our unwavering commitment to meeting the highest regulatory standards and unlocks a significant opportunity for us in a critical North American growth market. This will allow Incentive Games to forge new partnerships and bring our highly engaging Real-Money Games directly to players in Michigan. We're very grateful to the MGCB for this achievement, which is a pivotal step in our global expansion strategy as we continue to deliver world-class products and build strong partnerships in the region,” said Chief Commercial Officer Ahmed Baker.
